Jamie, something happened the other day. My sister and I went to Sonic, and like this awkward experience happened that I'll tell you about here in a second. But I was all riled up from that experience, and as I was leaving, accidentally honked my horn, and I was like in the fucking Sonic stall. Oh, and like there was a person bringing food out, so I was like, ah, and I did a hand gesture, like I didn't mean to like honk at you, sorry, and they didn't know what I was doing, so they just like awkwardly waved back at me, like, yeah, thanks for coming.
Speaker 3 0:57
This lady really wants to say bye.
Speaker 1 1:00
God, it was so fucking embarrassing. I was like, I gotta get us home. I get out of here. Okay, but the thing that happened, I feel like I'm gonna sound kind of mean, and I'm not trying to be. I'll explain myself after. So we were sitting waiting for our food, and there was there was like an empty stall, and then there was a woman in a car, and she had her windows down, and she was like really loudly singing, like very passionately, and my sister and I both got like so fucking uncomfortable, and we're just like, "Oh, this is so fucking weird. And then like there's another person in the car with her, and like, I mean, she was singing good, but and I'm not trying to bully a random woman, but I realized what I think it was was like that's not something that typically happens. So I think my brain was like, "How do I react? What do I do? You know, because I'm like, I feel. Oh, and
Speaker 3 2:12
that's why you honked. Or
Speaker 1 2:14
oh no, the honking was like I just was all riled up and accidentally. I was like, oh, so there was a reason. Sorry, the the singing one that happened before, and then when I was leaving, I honked. But it just like made me so uncomfortable, and I think it it was like she was singing good, but I think like she knew she was singing good, and it kind of felt like she wanted somebody to be like, "Oh my God! You have a beautiful singing voice, or something, you know? Yeah. And so then I'm like trying to think, like, oh, like we're kind of far away. So what if I try to tell her, like, oh, nice singing, and then she like doesn't hear me, or I I don't know, would that have made you uncomfortable if someone is just like passionately singing in the Sonic drive-through.
Speaker 3 3:04
Yeah, because okay. I mean, I you even turn your music down at a drive-through situation, right? Like, yeah, like you got to be respectful of like
Speaker 1 3:13
sitting in public. Got to like
Speaker 3 3:16
be respectful of like the speakers that the employees need to hear through true, and also just the other people around. Like if you're at a park or something, I don't care. But like if you're at like a restaurant, like
Speaker 4 3:30
yeah, we're shutting stuff up. We're all waiting for our fondongs
Speaker 1 3:34
and our ice cream, and you're over here like
Speaker 5 3:37
don't I think so? Good.
Speaker 3 3:42
Yeah. You should have been like my phone. You should have listened to the Nervous Laughter Podcast.
Speaker 1 3:47
Oh, I should have said that. And that's what you're doing right now. Yeah. You could
Speaker 3 3:52
have been like, "I'm Alyssa, and then it would have been like, "I'm Jamie.
Speaker 1 3:55
Yeah, exactly. You should listen
Speaker 3 3:56
to her podcast. Something that I probably would have said, I probably would have been too nervous to say it. But I will usually say this to well, I've only said it to like friends I'm fucking with, but it would be like a good sarcastic kind of thing to say because like how you're saying how she's like wants someone to tell her she sings good. Usually, just be like, "Is that the radio? Oh my god! Oh my god! You thought that I was the radio, and then it's like you think about it more later. It's like, oh, they're just being a. It's like I don't know. I feel. I feel like what if this just like is that the? Can someone turn that radio down? Like,
Speaker 1 4:44
what's that shitty song? I
Speaker 3 4:47
can't shazam this. What's
Speaker 1 4:51
wrong? I yeah, I'm not trying to be like mean, but it was just it was just a weird situation. I feel like it was kind of one of those things. When like you can tell that a little kid is doing something to get attention, they're like, "Look at me! Look at me!
Speaker 5 5:06
Yeah,
Speaker 1 5:07
I don't know. Maybe I just don't have joy in my heart, and if I did, I would just be fucking singing anywhere. I don't know.
Speaker 3 5:14
Yeah, sometimes I wonder that too. I'm like, okay, I get it. I'm not fucking whimsical. Yeah, like I'm not that whimsical. I like to think I'm fairly whimsical,
Speaker 1 5:22
but not singing in the fucking Sonic stall. Whimsical,
Speaker 3 5:27
but I also feel like if she went to New York, someone would instantly tell her to shut the fuck up. Hey, fucking kid! Shut your trap, your brawn. I'm walking around like one dog here. I want the Sonic drive-through,
Speaker 1 5:42
yeah.
Speaker 3 5:44
So no, I think you're fine in in feeling that way. I think sometimes I think people do things that are just generally agreed upon to be annoying, but they're like, "This is my whimsy and my sparkle.
Speaker 2 5:57
I I agree. So I think
Speaker 1 5:59
sometimes it's just like, okay, we're in a shared space where we don't necessarily need a lot of noise, and let's just all kind of like chill.
Speaker 3 6:12
Yeah, I guess if someone would stare at you if you played Frozen on repeat on an iPad 20 fucking times in a row, you probably don't want to sing in the place. Yeah. So no, I I agree. I uh I've seen uh yeah I don't know yeah just did did anyone say anything to her or I guess everyone was just enjoying
Speaker 2 6:42
the blessing
Speaker 3 6:43
of her presence.
Speaker 1 6:45
So they were in the little stalls, and so there was an empty one, and then there wasn't anybody on the other side. So I don't, I don't think there was anyone. I think maybe we were the only two cars. Maybe there was someone like on the other side down there, but I don't think she got what she was looking for, so I am sorry for her. She was looking in the
Speaker 3 7:05
wrong place, looking
Speaker 1 7:07
for love at all the wrong Sonics.
Speaker 3 7:09
You should have pressed the button and be like, "Hey, can you tell this chick to shut the fuck up? There's a crazy person in
Speaker 1 7:17
the stall next to me.
Speaker 3 7:18
But yeah, I don't know. That's crazy to me because, like, anytime I go through a drive-through, I'm just immediately, you know, turn my volume down and just just trying to be respectful of the employee and the the space, I guess. But not everyone. Yeah, she probably talks to movie theaters too. Oh my
Speaker 1 7:33
god! I bet you're right. She's like, oh, I have a really funny comment. I think everybody in the fucking theater would want to hear it. And thank you for supporting me. I was like, "Am I mean? Am I mean, girl? No, I'm not.
Speaker 3 7:48
No, I think sometimes people will just, yeah, I'm not trying to react people's yums, but sometimes people are annoying in spaces they don't need to be fucking annoying
Speaker 1 7:59
in. Absolutely.
Speaker 3 8:02
Um, and to segue in today's episode, I bet that bitch zorbs.
Speaker 1 8:11
Zorbs,
Speaker 3 8:12
you know, like zorbing.
Speaker 1 8:14
Is this more Victorian slang?
Speaker 3 8:15
No, no, no, no. Sorry. Yeah, like, what are we doing? No, today I'm going to be talking about sorbing accidents, injuries, and deaths. What is ab?
Speaker 1 8:27
Sort of boomer.
Speaker 3 8:30
Which I guess I started my thing out perfectly. If you aren't familiar with what zorbing is, a zorb is a giant clear plastic ball with a smaller plastic ball inside that a person can fit out of inside of, and there's like a wall of air between, so it's just like a giant ball a person can get in with like a cushion of air. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But it has yeah more an extra insulated layer that has you know this kind of pipe cover or whatever. That is
Speaker 1 9:00
perfect. Yes, she. would totally be into that.
Speaker 3 9:05
So yeah, the orbs are you know kind of bouncy because they got that cushioned air. Some orbs have harnesses, which can ride one to two people, and ones without harnesses can carry up to three, which I'm like, why are you putting three people in with less seat belt? Like,
Speaker 1 9:27
yeah, that sounds really bad. Yeah, I feel
Speaker 3 9:29
like I would like I get if you go fast enough, you'll stick to the wall or whatever. But I'm just like, we're gonna fall body. Yeah, yeah. But when you
Speaker 1 9:37
slow down, the person on the top is gonna slam into the fruition on the bottom.
Speaker 3 9:42
Not my thing. Riders usually ride inside the zorb downhill. Obviously, the more sloped it is, the faster you'll go. The fastest orb was 100 meters and 23 point 21. Seconds, which is 330 feet.
Speaker 1 10:02
Oh, that's too fast.
Speaker 3 10:04
Yeah, no, not for me. That was by James Dugan. And crap, I didn't Germany. I think a lot of the stuff started in Germany, Russia kind of area.
Speaker 1 10:17
Should I try to do a German accent?
Speaker 3 10:21
Yes, I can't think of what it sounds like right now. So if you got it, now I'm scared.
Speaker 4 10:27
I'm like, do I know? No, I'm not. Sorry, it's not an accent kind of day. We're a little sick with the the diarrhea explosion thing. All the shitting
Speaker 3 10:49
diseases happening right now. It's affected our accent. It's true. I pooped out my voice box. So yeah, I'm just gonna. Oh, and speaking of poop, if you didn't see the Instagram story, Alyssa got me a fucking sick purse for my birthday. It's like a big tote bag, and it's a guy sitting in the pool, and there's just a turd floating.
Speaker 1 11:09
Hell yeah!
Speaker 3 11:10
And it's man, all
Speaker 1 11:12
things just connect together. Perfect timing for that.
Speaker 3 11:17
And so for these zorbing incidents, I just went ahead and got all the ones I had and just put them in a timeline. So in June 2008, Rebecca Metzler, a journalist for the Lewiston Sun Journal newspaper, was invited to was invited by Lost Valley Ski Area to try out its new Zorb attraction for a story.
Speaker 1 11:42
So these are all attractions. Like a regular ass person couldn't get one and like bounce around Zoker Park or anything.
Speaker 3 11:49
I think you can. I don't know if there's like regulations and stuff for for it, but I usually see it set up as like tourist attractions, kind of you know stuff.
Speaker 1 11:58
Gotcha.
Speaker 3 12:00
But it seems like there's like hobbyists probably like in other countries like where it started and stuff. She okay. Rebecca says the ball went out. Rebecca says the ball went out of control and she suffered permanent painful back injuries. She sued the ski area roughly two years later,
Speaker 1 12:22
wow!
Speaker 3 12:23
Oh, I linked to the case, but I don't think it actually said if it was like one or not. I couldn't really find like the follow up in that. Damn! Check. Like, how did you get your back injury? Sorbing. Yeah, sorbing during work. Like, what does that even mean? Were you in space? Yeah. Um, in June 2009, in the Czech Republic, a teacher died and a student was severely injured while zwarbing on an unfenced mountain slope in the Czech Republic.
Speaker 1 13:03
What? Why? Why? Yeah, not to victim blame again.
Speaker 3 13:10
But it's kind of. I think people are like, oh, surely if this is here, it's safe. But it's kind of like you don't know if it's regulated. You don't know if this is a legal operation. You know things like that.
Speaker 1 13:23
We talked about that a little bit on the nightmare signal a while back. Just doing different attractions like that and how they can go wrong, and you know, like there's a chick that was doing some bungee cord thing.
Speaker 4 13:40
Oh yeah, they forgot.
Speaker 1 13:41
Yeah, they forgot to fucking put the bungee cord on, so she just got thrown off a mountain. Like she was like 23
Speaker 3 13:48
or 26 or something. Yeah, I think she was young. Yeah, that was God. I kept getting that video on my feed for like so long, and it's just so ah, it's so upsetting to watch because it's just like you see the rope on the ground.
Speaker 5 14:05
Yeah, yeah, terrible.
Speaker 3 14:09
Um, so in this Czech Republic situation, there was a safety net tied between two trees that was supposed to stop the ball, but it didn't hold.
Speaker 5 14:20
Oh man!
Speaker 3 14:21
So the the Zorb gained more speed and continued downhill further until it it finally stopped after slamming into a tree.
Speaker 2 14:29
Oh,
Speaker 3 14:31
which is like a awful way to go. I hate when someone's like, "Hey, I want to do this fun thing, and then just like boom, they're dead. It's just
Speaker 1 14:40
hopefully she had fun up until the end.
Speaker 3 14:44
Yeah, yeah, and um, I don't know. I guess if you want to try absorbing, go for it. It's not really my thing. It feels a little too hard to control to feel safe, and I get that I'm not a risk. So make fun of me if you want. Again, we're lacking whimsy. Apparently, I don't have whimsy. I'm not going skydiving. I'm not going to a chiropractor. Yeah. I nope. I'm uh uh
Speaker 1 15:12
agreed. No thank
Speaker 3 15:13
you. Um, in April 2011, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a consumer warning urging people to stop using water walking balls, which is a sorbing variant used on water. I think people also use sorbs on water as well because yeah, they work the same. Citing suffocation and drowning risk.
Speaker 1 15:40
Oh my god! I didn't think about that. It like fucking pops, and then you're just like in a big plastic
Speaker 3 15:46
thing you can't get out of. Or actually, I'll explain a little bit more, and then you'll be like the fuck do they allow?
Speaker 1 15:55
Damn! And
Speaker 3 15:55
again, I don't know if this is this this variant absorb or whatever, but yeah, well, yeah. The balls have no emergency exit and can only be unzipped from the outside.
Speaker 1 16:08
Oh no! Fuck no! You're not putting me in something that I
Speaker 3 16:11
cannot get out of, like myself. I I'm claustrophobic. Just make
Speaker 1 16:17
it like a fucking tent where you can undo it from the inside. Yeah,
Speaker 3 16:21
you can yeah put the the the little zipper that goes on like both sides or yeah maybe and that's it on both sides or fort you know four yeah just like a death trap um the CPSC cited two specific incident reports a five year old girl in Kingston, Massachusetts, who passed out when only briefly inside the ball. Manufacturers say their products are safe if used correctly. One maker's website said it holds 30 minutes of oxygen, while riders usually last only seven to 10 minutes. So it's like this thing doesn't even hold oxygen for like an hour. Like think
Speaker 1 17:06
about that,
Speaker 3 17:07
God, and like kids lose track of time and you know just go off and have fun, and parents get distracted by their you know phones or beers or whatever. Phones or it's gonna be the American way. Yeah, it's I don't know. It's just lots of accidents waiting to happen. They need like an
Speaker 1 17:26
emergency knife, like taped to the wall of the sword.
Speaker 4 17:30
That's safe. We'll put a safety knife. Exactly. Put the safety knife next to the poop knife. The
Speaker 1 17:42
poop knife have come undone. Oh no! You you poop knife in my safety hole. Oh my gosh. Maybe this is how we get the third installment of our fucking poop terror horror movie. Oh yeah, yeah. Because we, if the poop knife is in there, somehow people they roll off the path, they're lost in the woods, and then they're stuck in there with the tainted evil poop from the poop knife.
Speaker 3 18:12
Oh yeah, yeah, and they're like, I can't even use it to cut myself out because it's tainted, and so it's just a survival and a bubble story.
Speaker 1 18:20
Yeah, it could be a short film since there's only 30 minutes of oxygen. But
Speaker 3 18:25
actually, that would be kind of a cool idea. Like I only have 30
Speaker 5 18:30
minutes of oxygen. Yeah, what do I do? Oh man,
Speaker 1 18:32
there's like a horror, a horror shit on this knife, though. I don't know. Oh,
Speaker 3 18:37
and what if the person you're with, like you hit a tree, but like they got incapacitated or died, and you're just like stuck in the bubble with this dead person, and you can't. You're trying to like crawl back to you know civilization. Um, and also regarding the pool stuff, uh, there was a boy who fractured his arm when a ball fell out of a shallow pool. Oh, which I'm kind of like-I don't know. I know that I'm again a super cautious person, but just don't fucking do this. Don't do the stuff.
Speaker 1 19:16
Yeah, who thinks it's a good idea to be inside of a plastic bag, essentially in a pool. Yeah.
Speaker 3 19:26
On July 3, 2013, in Dombey, Russia, two tourists, Dennis Brockov, 27, and Vladimir Spirabaum, 33, paid to ride a zorb down an unfenced snow-covered slope. Uh-uh. Don't at the at the Dombey Ski Resort. There was there were no nets or anything like that to help keep the zorb on the intended course or stop it when it went off course. There was just a dude at the bottom of the sloop who was meant to stop the ball. Yeah, brace yourself. So there is a video of this. So whenever like you see it, you can see him like that guy chased after the ball. Damn. Yeah, and he chases it until it rolls off the mountainside into a ravine, and came to a stop by a frozen lake, roughly half a mile to a mile away.
Speaker 6 20:33
What?
Speaker 3 20:34
And Brokov suffered a broken neck and died en route to the hospital. Oh my gosh! Shravov was. hospitalized with fractures, a concussion, and other injuries. They were individuals on their trips, like different trips, but decided to ride the Zorb together because I think it has a two-person requirement for the like that makes sense. Yeah, weight, gravity distribution. The ride cost less than $10 each. Footage of the incident went viral and prompted international headlines and calls for tighter Russian safety regulation. Later that year, in July, the local operator behind the unlicensed ride-oh, yeah, it was unlicensed, Of course, Nikolai Shakanov was found guilty of criminal negligence causing death.
Speaker 1 21:30
Oh shit!
Speaker 3 21:32
He received a suspended sentence and was ordered to pay 500,000 rubles or 15,500 USV. Conversation. Yeah, no way. In conversation to Brockov's mother, a second younger defendant was declared was clear. Oh, sorry, cleared of the involvement.
Speaker 1 21:53
Oh my gosh!
Speaker 3 21:55
Yeah, that's just crazy. And the video, I can show you the video real quick if you want to. Sure, see it. Yeah, so that shit is just like ah.
Speaker 1 22:08
I mean, maybe I'm taking the fun out of it, but maybe you could find a way to kind of hook it up to like a bungee, so like you just roll a little bit, and then it like snaps back, and that's part of the fun. You're getting like knocked around, but then you might. I wonder if that change of direction might be depending on how fast it was going. It might be like too much of a
Speaker 4 22:35
yeah
Speaker 3 22:36
flashy kind of thing. But if it's a certain distance, I'm sure it's totally fine.
Speaker 1 22:40
That's my proposal for the Zorb Corporation. Hey,
Speaker 3 22:44
definitely seems a lot safer than
Speaker 1 22:46
what the fucking rolling off all these people are doing.
Speaker 3 22:49
Like that, yeah. If you look at the video, there's no kinds of like fencing on the side. Not even just like a string like tied up between two posts. Just no safety
Speaker 1 23:01
knife,
Speaker 3 23:02
no poop knife. Yeah, I'd uh, gosh, just makes my stomach turn when the camera like zooms in to just see it like bouncing around just down down a mountain. Um, just be safe. Just gonna yeah. Maybe I don't know. I'm not trying to like scare people out of doing stuff, but just kind of think if something's you know, look around. Yeah. Some safety precautions, maybe. Yeah. I don't care if someone's selling it to you. It doesn't mean it's safe. Yeah. Um. So just yeah. I mean, look at gas station drugs, right? Yeah. Yeah. Are you gonna go take some gas station drugs? We've all been burned by gas station boner pills, you know, dude. I there was when I was in community college. There was this one guy in my classes, and we're all meeting early to study for this big test we had, and so he got there. He's like, "Yeah, I got this. It was a pill from the gas station. It was like B energy, or it was like Steamer energy. Yeah, I guess like one of those that had like a wasp on it, and it was like he's like, "Yeah, it's like supposed to be like super whatever the ADHD medicine is. And so he took it, and then
Speaker 1 24:21
had a heart attack and bled out his ass.
Speaker 3 24:24
It wasn't like too long later. He's just in the bathroom, like curling, and it was like a big echoey like hall area with just a couple tables that we decided to meet at. That's close to the bathroom, so you could just hear it just echo through the whole building.
Speaker 1 24:39
Oh my god, dude! dude! I took I took one of those one time. There there were also some called stackers, and I remember they're like yellow and purple. And I took one and just like had a fucking panic.
Speaker 3 24:55
Yeah, I'm glad I never took that shit because I would have just instantly yeah. Instantly had a panic attack, and I keep seeing shit about like things like kratom. There's like kratom drinks and stuff people get, and that's just like fucking up a lot of people's lives right now. And yeah, but I mean, again, if it's not a gas station, I'd be like, oh, this is safe to this is safe to consume? Oh, natural energy, sure. Wouldn't have assumed it would just fuck my life up. Yeah. So in July 2013, in Ireland, a 10-year-old girl was absorbing during a let's go summer schools camp activity when she alleges the restraint strap failed, leaving her thrown around like in a tumble dryer. Which is another reason why I'm like, ah, dude, I just don't want to do this. Which have you ever been rolled down the stairs in a dryer, like insert. Wait, what?
Speaker 4 26:09
Maybe that's too specific of a question. Anyway, you can hurt your back if you land wrong. You land wrong at the bottom of the stairs
Speaker 3 26:22
if it's too tall.
Speaker 1 26:26
It took my brain a second to like figure out what you're saying, but now I know. Yes, like the the part in the middle. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 26:33
I'm also realizing how just specific and just not normal of a question that was after I asked it. Like we've all played. live in the south, we're both wins. It's
Speaker 2 26:45
that's how I felt when I was like, "Oh yeah, stackers, zingers. I'm checking that I was just like a fucking white trash. I rode down a fucking hill in a fucking walk. It was down the stair
Speaker 1 27:00
outside a trailer. Actually,
Speaker 2 27:01
oh my god! So you did it? Yeah. Oh
Speaker 5 27:04
shit! I mean, I
Speaker 3 27:06
was fine. I, I, I think uh, I can't honestly. It was so long ago. I can't remember if my friend hurt their back or if it was me. It must have been my friend. But yeah, we just. I don't know. You know.
Speaker 1 27:18
Ooh, I just think about like accidentally getting your hand out of it and like rolling over your hands. Well, yeah, your bones were probably soft and it's fine.
Speaker 3 27:32
I think what we were doing was just like um, you know, like a. I think it was in CKY, not Jackass, but they would get in like the blue barrels. Oh yeah, like roll those like off of a roof or things like that. Yeah, so we would do stuff like that. No way. I mean, not off a roof. I mean, my friend tried jumping off high things at the playground. Good times. Um, so yes, this little girl said she was felt like she she was thrown around like a tumble dryer. Sorry, I'm not laughing at her. I was just laughing at thinking of my experience. Yes, but I asked her. I asked her, Didi. Um, she pursued a brain injury claim against the camp operator over the following decade, the company denied the incident happened as described. The case settled in the Irish High Court, which sounds fancy as fuck off. The Irish High Court,
Speaker 1 28:34
yeah,
Speaker 3 28:35
in December 2024 for 1 million euros. Which sorry I didn't convert that to USD, but today was pretty close.
Speaker 3 28:45
And I did a, I didn't like put more information about it, but when I was reading a little more about it, it was like the camp counselor was like, "Well, we've done this all the time, and no one else got heard about it. It was like I did it wrong. Okay, maybe she her fucking arm is broke. I can totally see that. Just being like a teenager, that's like that didn't happen. What do you mean? Yeah. So yeah, I I feel bad for her. That was
Speaker 1 29:14
sad.
Speaker 3 29:15
Cause yeah, it sounded like her parents and her were like going to doctors trying to figure out what was kind of up with that, and it only started happening after that incident. So that was kind of the only thing they could really, you know,
Speaker 1 29:28
fucking enjoy.
Speaker 3 29:30
Um, in July 2016, in Poyona Brazov, Romania, a 17-year-old girl from England fractured both arms. I know it's just can't use your arms while zorbing at a resort course. Reporting suggests her harness was not properly secured, and that she rode solo in a ball designed. For two riders, which can destabilize the orb's balance. It's likely the accident could have been prevented if precautions were taken. Which, like, I know that it sounds like the Irish girl was also in a orb by herself. So, I think like earlier I said, yeah, harnesses. Some orb have harnesses which can ride one to two people. So it sounds like she could have ridden that one, unless it was like specifically designed to have to have two people. But um, but yeah. So she broke both her arms, which fucking sucks. Sometimes I, sometimes I'll get like scared and start practicing doing stuff with my left hand because I'm like, what if I break my hand or lose my arm? I just need to be prepared and just I gotta be ready for every situation. Yeah, just and then I just yeah, kind of spiral into thinking about like losing my arm and then all other kind of you know how the OCD health spiral thing anxiety goes
Speaker 1 31:10
definitely yeah
Speaker 3 31:12
december 16 2021 in Devonport Tasmania Australia no no no that. under, and I will, I guess, give a pre-warning. This one's pretty sad. Stop making pretty wild.
Speaker 1 31:30
There's a death. I was like, did I make a joke? No, you're telling me subtly. Oh no, I mean, like for for listeners
Speaker 3 31:38
too, because I was also just kind of like, am I just kind of like speed running? Like, I'm like, here's all these deaths. This person fucked up their arms. There's about to be some sad shit. Like, I'm just like, fuck. Am I speed running? Should I be like putting that he relax points in? Um. So during end of year celebrations at Hillcrest Primary School in Devonport, Tasmania, Australia, a sudden dust devil freak gust or freak wind gust lifted a jumping castle and several orb balls roughly 33 feet into the air and around 240 feet away.
Speaker 1 32:23
What the fuck?
Speaker 3 32:25
Yeah. Um, six children, all aged 11 to 12. Um, sadly died.
Speaker 1 32:35
Six.
Speaker 3 32:36
Yes.
Speaker 1 32:38
What the fuck?
Speaker 3 32:39
Yeah, and that was Chance Harrison, Jalila Jane Marie Jones, Zane Miller, Addison Stewart, Jai Shahan, and peter.so. R.I.P. to those poor little babies. That's like that's like a freak accident. That like my anxiety is just like scared is gonna happen all the time.
Speaker 5 33:07
Yeah, I don't want to
Speaker 3 33:08
immediately be like, oh, why did you think of this? But like, I mean, just yeah. I mean, like the
Speaker 1 33:15
bounce castle. I feel like that with the orbs, I can see it. But the bounce castle, you would think that like you know they're like staked down or whatever, like that. Oh no! Okay, okay.
Speaker 3 33:30
The inflatables were set up by a company called Tazzorb, operated by Rosemary Gamble. She was criminally charged with workplace safety breaches. The prosecution was claiming the staff was not trained properly and the jumping castle was not anchored well. She was acquitted in June 2025 with a with the magistrate ruling the wind event was unforeseeable. The a inquest examining examining Australian inflatable safety standards was expected to begin in 2026, and the civil suit is also proceeding. And when I was reading more about it, I didn't like put this in my write-up, but um, I think that they were saying like, well, even if it, uh, basically even if it was staked properly, it probably would have still been lifted up,
Speaker 1 34:24
which
Speaker 3 34:24
I kind of argue like you don't fucking know that. You don't fucking know that.
Speaker 1 34:29
Yeah, I mean, there's really no way to recreate that.
Speaker 4 34:33
Yeah, you don't know if they had
Speaker 1 34:35
actually have a the
Speaker 3 34:37
measurement of how fast the wind was, and then set up the same thing in the same place and had that same power to test it. I know, but
Speaker 4 34:46
I, I
Speaker 1 34:49
don't know if
Speaker 3 34:51
if the I I'm not the judge, but so I don't agree with the judge exactly. I guess I kind of feel like. There should be reliability
Speaker 7 35:02
there.
Speaker 1 35:03
I agree for the bouncy
Speaker 3 35:04
castle, because yeah, I agree. What are you supposed to do with the zorbs? But maybe that should be thought about too. Like you, yeah, they maybe there needs to be like a big netting, or maybe it just be an indoor thing, or
Speaker 1 35:17
or you zorb just like in a little, I don't know. Yeah, like you said, like netting, like
Speaker 3 35:25
yeah, you get a small five by five room that you basically just stand in the zorban, and there you go. That's only safe way to have
Speaker 1 35:34
fun if you just had like a little bit of bounce room, you know. Oh yeah, you just kind of
Speaker 3 35:38
jump around.
Speaker 1 35:39
Yeah,
Speaker 3 35:40
that does remind me of a another land game from my youth. In the house I grew up in, there's like this small hallway, and you can close all these doors. Oh, and it's just like a small little weird shape. But me and my sister would get like a the like giant workout ball, and we turn the light off, and then just throw it, throw it as hard as we could, and then it would just bounce all over and get the knock out of your head into the wall.
Speaker 1 36:08
That sounds really fun. That was
Speaker 4 36:10
so much fun,
Speaker 1 36:11
man. Y'all had some fucking sick games. Like, what was the one with your grandma Taylor game,
Speaker 4 36:18
where you just turn the lights off and try to scare each other. Man, I wouldn't play
Speaker 1 36:25
these games as an adult.
Speaker 3 36:27
Yeah, I hadn't played any of them as an adult. I think with the ball one, I'd probably put a helmet on. But
Speaker 1 36:31
oh,
Speaker 3 36:33
but but yeah, I don't know. Maybe there needs to be like weight limits or something. You know, it's like these were kids, so they
Speaker 1 36:39
yeah you
Speaker 3 36:40
know weigh half less than half as much as an adult. So,
Speaker 1 36:44
I have an idea to what you actually never mind. It's like it's it's a joke, but maybe I should have. Well, okay, pretend we're not talking about children right now. We're talking about like small framed adults that don't weigh a lot. Little
Speaker 3 37:01
people,
Speaker 1 37:02
yes. You can
Speaker 3 37:04
say it. I'm just gonna
Speaker 1 37:06
say it. Say it. Say it. So we have my safety knife. Also, if you need something to kind of weigh you down, you just have you carry like a cinder block, like those ones where it's like the two sides, and you just you have that in the orb too.
Speaker 3 37:23
Yeah, you could easily have like weighted jackets and shit to just give people.
Speaker 1 37:28
Yeah.
Speaker 3 37:29
Yeah. No, that's a good idea. But yeah, I just very very sad thing. I I mean maybe I don't need to listen to the whole testimony and everything, but I don't know. In my gut, it's just like that lady needs to. I don't know. Be charged with a little something,
Speaker 1 37:48
a little something, something, something,
Speaker 3 37:49
something.
Speaker 1 37:52
Oh, maybe they could put her in a washing machine tub and like
Speaker 3 37:58
roll her down, roll
Speaker 1 38:00
her, and that can be her fucking punishment. Like this is what happened. They just go to the top of
Speaker 3 38:05
Mountain with Lazor and they're just like, "All right, bye, bye, bye.
Speaker 1 38:09
No safety knife or safety cinder block for you.
Speaker 3 38:12
It reminds me of like, did you watch Kung Pao yet?
Speaker 1 38:16
No. Oh,
Speaker 3 38:16
there's a part. It's God. This is just like this has just always been one of the fucking funniest things to me. It was a so there's a part where like you know the baby there's a baby that escapes a burning house and he crawls out and then he gets to like the edge of the cliff or hill and then he falls and he starts rolling down the hill and it's just like the sound effects and going down. It's just like, and then it finally stops and gets to this lady and she picks him up and she's like, "Oh, so cute, bye bye, and rolls him down the rest of the
Speaker 1 39:00
hell yeah,
Speaker 3 39:01
and that's where my sense of humor started. I'm
Speaker 1 39:06
glad that regular citizens don't seem to have these because whenever you're talking about like how the Sonic girl might do it, I just pictured her like an ACL, like in one of these, just like fucking crowd surfing. Yeah, that's totally what I pictured. Just fucking
Speaker 3 39:26
throw her at the porta potties and leave her there.
Speaker 1 39:30
Hey, that would have been a good jackass stunt. Jack Tush, excuse me. Yeah,
Speaker 3 39:34
yeah, yeah. Just throwing the zorb around at, I guess, a
Speaker 1 39:37
big various
Speaker 3 39:40
porter potties and yeah.
Speaker 1 39:42
What else could you throw it into?
Speaker 3 39:47
Oh, just fucking throw it through a cow field.
Speaker 4 39:50
Yeah, you could roll
Speaker 3 39:52
it through all that shit.
Speaker 1 39:55
Just have like brown on the outside of the fucking zorb.
Speaker 3 39:59
Do what?
Speaker 1 40:00
So a bunch of like brown streaks all over the zorb from the fucking poop,
Speaker 3 40:05
and then it just tracks everywhere.
Speaker 1 40:07
Oh, or they put like, like they have somebody like shit in a bedpan, and then they put that inside the zorb, and then you roll them around. So you get like the shit like bouncy man. I need to be a writer for Jackass, or you get put in there with someone
Speaker 3 40:23
who has a diarrhea fucking sickness right now.
Speaker 1 40:26
I'm just like, oh, oh my god! I can't wait for you to see the new one. If you want to, like, I'll see it again because there's this one scene with diarrhea that like. Is it a
Speaker 3 40:39
new or old clip?
Speaker 1 40:40
It's a new one.
Speaker 3 40:41
Oh, okay, okay.
Speaker 1 40:42
I have not laughed that hard, and I don't know how long. So let me know if you want to get so funny.
Speaker 3 40:51
And the last one I have is a. It was like May, June 2023, and Southport Food and drink festival in the UK. A nine-year-old boy was sorbing until a strong gust of wind lifted him into the air.
Speaker 1 41:08
What the fuck?
Speaker 3 41:10
Like these things need to have like it just needs to have like big bold red letters like must weigh certain amount or something. I don't know. It's it's crazy. Witnesses estimated a range from 20 to 65 feet in the air, which is like a crazy thing.
Speaker 1 41:30
That seems really tall to me. Oh yeah, that like a big range. Like
Speaker 3 41:34
I don't know. Maybe well, they probably asked someone like me for an estimate. 300,000. Man, that's impossible! I fucking god! I saw it! I
Speaker 1 41:43
saved it! I
Speaker 3 41:44
saw it with my eyes. Um, but the height was not confirmed. Onlookers described it as a small tornado or dust devil before the ball came down and popped on impact. One witness said it was quite breezy. Oh, it was quite breezy. Then all of a sudden, there was a gust of wind. It the inflatable ball went went over the trees, and I thought I thought it. We thought it was a balloon at first before we realized. Sorry, I get you're doing like you said. It's fucking like at the beginning episode. We're six, so our accents aren't working. We thought it was a balloon at first before we realized it was one of the inflatables with a child inside, and it landed right over there. And the mother said there was a gust of wind. The inflatable Zorb took off from the water pool, so this was another cool one with the boy inside. The Zorb then landed on a wheelie bin, which I think is just like a garbage bin, like our big ones with wheels on the bottom. I assume a wheelie bin. The Zorb popped on impact, leaving the boy on the ground. Another witness said he was airlifted to the hospital with serious but not life-threatening, thankfully, injuries. These herbs have caused too many deaths.
Speaker 1 43:11
Too many. That's fucking crazy. Yeah.
Speaker 3 43:15
And that was my last one, so I have no more stories. Um. I hope I have scared you all out of using absorb. Do
Speaker 1 43:25
not sob. Do
Speaker 3 43:26
not sorb, unless it is inside a facility, not involving water, not children, no children. You weigh enough. If you're strapped in properly for I guess like 20 minutes. Let's let's wait safe and say like 1015, Yeah, yeah. Your oxygen is fine.
Speaker 1 43:53
There's not a tendon there that is assigned to you that you take your eyes,
Speaker 3 43:58
unzip you from the outside because I things that you can't open from the inside. I'm not. I don't. I don't. I'm sorry. I don't think I trust anyone enough in the world to. Yeah. Not even me.
Speaker 1 44:13
I mean, I won't take it personally. I can answer honestly.
Speaker 3 44:16
Maybe, maybe Brandon. Oh,
Speaker 1 44:19
damn. Okay. Okay. Fair.
Speaker 3 44:22
No, because like, no, I would trust him. I would trust him to do it, but I think he would fuck with me for a second and be like, "Oh, I want to do it. No, I got you. Like, no, you still made me panic in that sweat second. But no, I think I think I would probably trust the two of you. But I just I don't know. You don't
Speaker 1 44:39
have to lie if you wouldn't try, I feel like some stands
Speaker 3 44:42
might try to fuck with me too much, and then like you get into that, you'd be like, "Oh, she's real panicking. I'm not gonna. I'm
Speaker 1 44:47
thinking of one in particular. They would take it too far.
Speaker 3 44:55
Yeah, yeah. So yeah, I just the. I don't know. I keep thinking about airplanes because I get scared being in airplanes because you're just shut in there when the door's closed. It's closed. You can't leave. That's the scariest
Speaker 1 45:10
part of being in an airplane when they like shut that door because you're like, okay, I'm in. There's nothing I can do. Just that that minute when the door shuts,
Speaker 3 45:20
and that just gets my anxiety spiked higher, and then I'm just like in final destination mode, where I'm like, "The plane's gonna crash!
Speaker 1 45:30
We gotta get out! Oh my! I have to tell you something fucking psychotic. So, our friend Matthew, he has a friend named Matt that I've I met one time lovely guy. He lives. I'm blanking somewhere on the East Coast. So Matthew and Matt will like fly to see each other, and I don't know who was the recipient of this, and like like I don't know who was flying where, but one of them texts the other one, I have a feeling your plane's gonna go down like right before it fucking took off. But they're like friends enough and similar enough to where they're just like, "LOL, it's funny.
Speaker 3 46:14
Okay, I feel that. I feel that. And
Speaker 1 46:16
I'm like, dude, never fucking do that to me. I have to
Speaker 3 46:20
say, I would not text you that until you returned home, maybe a week after you were done with your trip, and be like, "Dude, I just had
Speaker 1 46:27
a little anxiety before your trip. Do you want to hear? Oh my god! Yeah, they're just like have no feelings that the other one's gonna be in danger. They're just fucking with each other, like final destination. You know, like man, if your plane's gonna fucking crash, holy shit! I feel like if we
Speaker 3 46:45
did that, we would just get into like an unhealthy fueling of
Speaker 5 46:48
the of the
Speaker 3 46:49
fear and just like
Speaker 5 46:51
ah be like no no no what was that thing anonymous call I
Speaker 3 46:56
called it anonymous call to the airport they're stopping the plane
Speaker 1 47:00
I said I said I had a bomb. It's fine. I'll go to prison after taking you off.
Speaker 3 47:08
I have three months before they find me. I have enough time to zork to do the sick zorb track
Speaker 1 47:15
real quick. Oh gosh, isn't that fucking crazy though? Yeah, I don't think I would ever be like confident enough in anything like that, where somebody could fuck with me like that. Like, yeah, no,
Speaker 3 47:32
I've been kind of learning. I thought that that was, and I mean, it could just be like a full anxiety thing, but I think it is like an OCD thing of just like, hey, I can see the future, and this bad thing's gonna happen, and you're gonna die. Or I can't go on. Yeah, I can't go on this trip because the plane's gonna crash. I'm just like, yeah. Oh, I can't stop thinking about
Speaker 5 47:53
it.
Speaker 1 47:55
One time, I did wake up from like a dead sleep and was like, my sister should not drive today.
Speaker 3 48:03
I've had shit like that too. It's so oh, I
Speaker 1 48:07
texted her. I was like, "This is fucking weird, but I just feel like you don't need to be in the car today. And she's like, "Well, I'm off today. I was like, "But I've never like had that before. So you know. Sometimes I am like, "What if I did have like a premonition? But it's hard to like differentiate that from that type of anxiety. Yeah, yeah, because I don't think I really realized
Speaker 3 48:33
it until like me and my mom were talking about some stuff sometimes, and we're just talking about like all the times we've had that, and we're like, like, yeah, I think I have this like gut psychic feeling thing, and then I don't know. We're talking about it more, and it's like we're mentally ill. God damn it! I'm not saying that you can't have a gut feeling or like you know a kind of deja vu thing about something, but it's just like yeah, I guess the majority of the time, I live.
Speaker 1 49:03
Yeah. See, and
Speaker 3 49:05
half the time I'm alive at the end, so it's fine. Yeah,
Speaker 1 49:07
it's hard because like I do believe in stuff like that, but also I know that is like a facet of like mental illness, so it's very hard to differentiate the
Speaker 3 49:19
issue. And then whenever something bad actually does happen, and then you're like, "Whoa, I do need to listen to this gut feeling and let it control my life. Yeah,
Speaker 1 49:28
it's crazy. It's a bad place to be. Yeah,
Speaker 3 49:31
yeah, yeah. I have a
Speaker 1 49:33
feeling though that our I feel like I cut you off. I'm so sorry. But I have a gut feeling our podcast will be famous if you, yeah, like listeners, yes, do those things.
Speaker 3 49:48
And then, sorry, were you gonna say something else? I just gotta jump in.
Speaker 1 49:51
I just like, as I said this, I was like, I don't know if she's done talking. I just feel like she's done. No,
Speaker 3 49:58
I was done. I was like. How do I segue till the end? And then you did, so that yeah, super smooth. See, we're we're we we're like psychic insane. We do
Speaker 1 50:08
have a psychic connect connection. But actually, if you ever like get a very strong feeling, tell me. I feel like one day you're gonna get a really bad feeling and just text me, and then but I'm just gonna be like too entangling and be like,
Speaker 3 50:25
your feeling was right.
Speaker 2 50:26
I feel like I'm gonna pass out. I'm shitting my brains out.
Speaker 1 50:30
Then I'm like, oh my god, Jamie, do I have to come give you CPR? And then if I don't, your death will be on my hands, like we talked about that one episode.
Speaker 3 50:39
Oh God, yeah. Where I
Speaker 1 50:40
thought that I needed to save Jamie's life, but really she was just asleep. God, I felt so stupid when
Speaker 2 50:47
I felt fucking stupid as
Speaker 3 50:49
soon as I saw the phone ringing. I was just like, pretend like you're you can things are good or just like you know like hey girl hey girl just with my brains out just you know let's go ahead.
Speaker 2 51:01
Casual. God, that club is
Speaker 3 51:06
awful, though. Sorry if you guys have had any recent shit your brains out. You know where you undress and you're just drenched in sweat and you pass
Speaker 5 51:17
out.
Speaker 1 51:19
When you when you have to take all your clothes off. Like, it's so bad that that hasn't happened to me that often. But like, it's so weird that like everyone seems to have that instinct. Like, what is that? You know, like when you're just like violently ill and shitting, and you're like, I just have to take my clothes off
Speaker 3 51:38
before me. I'm just fucking hot.
Speaker 1 51:40
Yeah, I just start getting hot, and my
Speaker 3 51:42
body's like, you need cold. So it's like, yeah. Just take my clothes off. Maybe I'll cool down. Okay, I don't cool down. Let me lay down on the cold tile. Oh, yeah. Good, good times. I hope the episode wasn't too crazy. I know we don't talk about theft stuff a lot, but you know, listeners, I think some of you guys might have enjoyed that for sure. And yeah, maybe just don't absorb. Yeah, may not be worth it at home. And yeah, go ahead and party on
party on!
